Apple has partnered with Flipkart to bring the iPhone 7 to India. The partnership means that Flipkart will now get devices and marketing supported directly from Apple.
Earlier, Flipkart had to source Apple devices from third-
party retailers. This would drive up the cost of the device and drive down Flipkart’s margins. Now that they’re getting devices directly from Apple, prices and margins should be more stable. Macs and iPads will eventually make their way to Flipkart as well.
Mashable reports that Apple has also partnered with Infibeam, an ecommerce company.
The Apple iPhone 7 was announced on 7 September and is notable for its lack of headphone jack. The prices of the devices are expected to start at Rs 60,000 for the 32GB iPhone 7 and Rs 70,000 for the 32GB iPhone 7 Plus.
The previous generation iPhones, the 6s and 6s Plus, will receive a discount of up to Rs 22,000, depending on variant. These models have also been refreshed with double the onboard storage that they previously offered.
Flipkart hasn’t mentioned the Apple Watch Series 2 and AirPods yet, but we assume that they will also launch alongside the iPhone 7 on 7 October.
