After the launch of Jeep’s luxury SUV range in India, there were two other vehicles that were said to be headed to India but with lower price tags compared to the current range. While it was not confirmed which models Jeep India plans to assemble in the country, we do know that these would be B segment and C segment SUVs that would be priced low to compete with local offerings. A quick look up at the Jeep USA website revealed that best two candidates would be Jeep’s Renegade SUV and the Compass. And now Autocar India has spotted the new Jeep Compass in testing, adding more evidence that new Jeep will be launched in India soon.

The new Jeep model was first spotted shooting for a commercial using the new Compass SUV at a location in Sau Paulo, Brazil. And it is big refresh indeed. The vehicle maintains the same design language as the previous Compass model, but looks bolder, with a revamped front face, sharper looks and wrap-around head lamps that give the Compass a contemporary look.

Production of the same took off at FCA’s Jeep Assembly Plant in Goiana Brazil. The Indian variant seen in the spy shot above, packs in a 2.0-litre Fiat Multijet II diesel burner that will be localised and produces 172 bhp. The SUV is expected to be offered in two or four wheel drive variants and will be arrive in same four trims as the international markets, Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk. Price although not confirmed, is expected to begin at around Rs 20 lakh which is a pretty good deal given its size.
